PROLOGUEYou've heard about the town of Eden's Hollow in one way or another, like a passing glance to a stranger. Whispers from children talking about witches and magic, kind words from wives dreaming about the countryside landscape, acknowledgement from weary travelers about the little town's convenient location.Eden's Hollow is nothing but another name on the map to you, until the attack happens. The newspapers narrate flames lighting up the night sky and the mayor's claims of night beasts attacking their fair town. Come morning, Eden's Hollow is a shell of itself. Some say it was just a simple accident, a match thrown in the wrong place. The rare few murmur it's a bad omen under their breath.Word of the fire circulates for a while. It's the talk of many of the neighboring towns until it's not. Life moves on easily, and so do you...until you happen across a rather peculiar flyer several weeks later.HELP WANTED: Anyone who is willing to work.It seems the mayor of Eden's Hollow has sent out a cry for assistance, calling on anyone willing to help him rebuild and repopulate the town of Eden's Hollow. In exchange for your services, a very generous benefactor is offering free room and board for as long as you stay. Such a proposal must be intriguing to some curious souls with an adventuring spirit, or entirely too tempting to the ones that see the potential of free-living.But be careful, won't you? Rumors start for a reason...you never know what whispers might be true.Shall you make your way to Eden's Hollow?

DOES MY CHARACTER HAVE TO BE A HUMAN?
Yes. The overall setting of Eden's Hollow takes place in a sort of pseudo-Earth where things are completely normal and humans are just trying to live their average lives. But who knows if it will stay that way...IS THIS GROUP SET IN THE VICTORIAN ERA?
Yes! And no. We're using the general aesthetic and daily livings of the Victorian era but in a universe that's full of the supernatural with other strange and curious things. Think of it as a sort of fantasy Victorian setting with more convenience (and hygiene) added into the universe.WILL MY CHARACTER DIE?
There is the possibility that throughout the story your character might get injured or meet an untimely death depending on their actions. No one is safe. Poor decision-making or bad reputation in the town will result in consequences.You're able to bring in a new character should your character meet an unfortunate demise!DO I HAVE TO DRAW MY APP ART?
Art isn't a requirement for this group, as you can progress through the story with RP and events.That being said, the application art must be fully drawn by you. We will not be judge art quality as a prerequisite for getting into the group. Using bases and commissions will not be accepted.________EXPECTATIONS
There will be activity checks every chapter, the details of these will be announced when they happen. We don't expect you to be on the server all the time, but we do expect a mild amount of participation in terms of personal roleplay or events. S E T T I N G
This small town is surrounded by forests and countryside. It makes for beautiful scenery and a lovely rest stop while traveling to larger towns, but does not see a lot of traffic due to its slightly isolated location.Below is a map of Eden's Hollow. Unfortunately, many of the buildings have burned down or were destroyed in the accident. Some buildings have been hastily patched up in attempt to resume business, so they may continue to make a profit to fix up the town.

RELIGION
The main religion in this universe is the belief in The Allfather. Universal light, holy and divine, this deity has no true name, gender, or image. They carry only a title, and are said to be the watchful eye over all the lands.The world only used to be filled with shadows and specters, a land of pure darkness. These shadows would cry out for help each day, hoping for something to change in their miserable ways. Life didn’t exist then, only the uncertainty of purgatory and a long life of nothingness.The tale is told that one day, The Allfather arrived in a beam of bright white that flooded the lands, purifying it from its poisonous dark fog. Light had never existed before and it was blinding, the writhing shadows were not able to see the form who gave such a harsh but beautiful gift.This light burned for three days and when it faded, the sun and moon remained. In place of the miserable shadows now existed the purest form of humans, animals, and life. This is how humanity was created.As time passed and humanity evolved, the darkness also began to creep back in. Perhaps it cannot be helped, for humans started as shadows, inherently selfish, dark, and unholy. The more the world developed, the easier it was to fall back into their dark origins. But faith in the Allfather gives values of holiness, forgiveness, and self-betterment….and of course, the comfort that They are always watching.Though humans will never be able to achieve the level of purity and light that the Allfather has, they seek to always show their gratitude through religion and prayer in the hopes that they will remain safe under his watchful eye.

MAGIC AND WITCHCRAFT
Magic is a dangerous word in this universe. Many believe it doesn’t exist at all and that such things are only real in fairytales. But...there is a deeply rooted fear in many faithful priests and citizens that a growing number of humans are straying from the light, and are actively looking for ways to return to their impure roots of dark.This is why witchcraft especially, is considered a danger to society. The people who talk a bit too much about the stars shifting, gathering strange objects, and leaving water out at night are looked at with a cautious eye. If enough proof is found to consider them an actual witch, there is no guarantee that they might not go missing the next day, never to be seen again. Or perhaps they might be used as a public example if they are dangerous enough...after all, humans know how to make their own burning light nowadays.

The universe is set in a Victorian setting so please try and use the fashion of that time for your character aesthetic. Of course, feel free to add your own artistic interpretation to it, as fantasy elements are more than welcome! We want you to have fun and not feel too limited in your creative process, but use the period aesthetic as a general foundation for your design.As a general rule of thumb, modern clothes and brightly coloured hair won't be allowed. Your character can have blue hair for example, but it cannot be overly saturated.

THE TRAIT CHART
Statistics for your character will be based off of the personality traits they have. This is due to the focus on our group being more narrative driven.Each character is given 10 points to invest into the trait chart. You can choose to put no points in a trait if you'd like to keep it neutral, and you cannot put points on each side of the same row.
(For instance, you cannot have a point in Empathetic and a point in Apathetic at the same time.)Please note there are no bad traits to have. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses. We want people to make realistic and dynamic characters that they will have fun with!
